In response to the price raise of the newspapers the newsies went on strike. "The American Newsboy Strike of 1899" is an example of breaking barriers, child labor barriers. The strike opened the eyes of the public. After striking for two weeks they accepted the World and Journols' compromise, this ended the striking on August 2, 1899.
The American Newsy Strike of 1899, propelled on July 21, 1899, it was a dissent, proposed to bring down the cost increment back to five pennies for ten bits of paper. The strike continued for around fourteen days before they acknowledged Pulitzer and Hearst's trade-off, which finished the strike. The Newsies Returned to work after the strike.
